Car and Garbage Truck in Early Morning Collision
February 15, 2018
Every motor vehicle accident on the road is different from another. Some might be what most refer to as a “fender bender,” which is a collision with little to no damage. Other accidents can result in vehicles being totaled, which means they are well beyond repair.
Regardless of the type of accident, a motor vehicle collision can be scary for all involved.
This was the case in a recent accident in Penn Hills when a motor vehicle collided with a garbage truck.
The incident was reported around 2:15 a.m. and it took over an hour for rescue crews to remove the person that was trapped in the vehicle. Upon rescue, the person was transported to the hospital where their condition remained unknown.
A motor vehicle accident like this one is especially scary because of the sheer difference in size of a regular motor vehicle and the size of a standard garbage truck. Without many details on the actual collision, it is hard to know what actually took place.
There could be a multitude of reasons why the collision took place. It could have been unsafe driving practices on the part of the garbage truck driver. Being a vehicle larger than most on the road, truck drivers tend to drive like the whole road belongs to them. This leaves little space and options for other motor vehicles on the road.
On the other hand and given the time the accident took place, it may very well have been due to the condition of the person driving the car. The person could have been driving distracted, under the influence or just fatigued at the wheel.
Regardless of which motorist was at the root of the collision, either driver or both should be looking for legal representation in an effort to be properly compensated for any damages sustained in the incident.
